THE TRAGEDY OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Our recent Guest Speaker, Michelle Kerr gave a powerful overview of the Global tragedy that is Human Trafficking. Michelle is the Australian CEO  of This is Eden https://thisiseden.org    It is estimated that there are over 49 million victims of modern day slavery throughout the world. Human trafficking is the fastest growing criminal industry worldwide. 73% are from the Asia- Pacific region. Michelle’s organization provide frontline workers in Myanmar to help give sex- workers exit strategies and find safe shelter, along with counselling, support, and educational  and vocational opportunities. Impoverishment is the main reason why families are often compelled to “sell” their children into modern day sexual exploitation and slavery. The work of THIS IS EDEN is courageous and inspiring.
