MOVEMBER

The presentation by Movember’s Jake Lambert was comprehensive and succinct. “Movember” started In 2003 as a conversation between men who wanted to highlight concerning statistics around men’s health. Men die on average 4 years before women. “Opening up conversations” around regular medical check ups for conditions such as enlarged Prostates which can indicate Prostate Cancer are vital in reducing death from preventable disease. Sadly, men are less likely to engage in preventable health, choosing instead to suffer in silence. Movember commissioned the “Real Face of Men’s Health” report which highlights “the major causes of preventable death among men, common barriers to healthcare entry, and disparities in health outcomes across Indigenous, LGBTQIA+ , migrant and refugee communities.” The Rotary Club of Preston were pleased to donate to the excellent educative focus of Movember.
