LIFT EVERY MADAGASCY UP ROTARY
Paul hails from the Rotary Club of Southern Mitchell and he last spoke to our club 2 years ago. This was an update on progress with the international project he spearheads. The region of Ambovombe in Madagascar has had 7 years of drought., and with a declining economy many people are relocating to the cities where there is more employment.
Paul highlighted the parlous conditions of the local schools, and the fact that many children live in poverty, receiving barely one meal per day.
The Banque Alimentaire ( Foodbank) supply and deliver food to the school for 24 months to feed and support 150 “social children.”
There are a number of fronts in which the Rotary Club of Southern Mitchell seeks to assist the St Vincent De Notre Dame Primary School. By transferring funds directly to the Rotary Club of Ankorondrano, items such as dictionaries, school books, school equipment are being purchased directly. Other key needs are water filtration systems, a regular food supply, school kitchen upgrading, an installation of solar panels cheaper power.
A number of Rotary clubs in District 9790 have been contributing to this project over the past couple of years. We commend Paul for his energy and compassion in continuing to present to clubs and invite financial support for this outreach.
