Welcome to the Rotary Club of Preston

People of Action

Hello there,
Preston Rotary is an active service club with diverse ages, genders, vocations and nationalities. We meet over lunch weekly at the Darebin RSL in Bell St Preston, combining time for a chat and a laugh, whilst always allowing time to hear from   a very broad range of interesting speakers.
We are a great club as we have a big open heart, willing to take on new challenges. We have a 'can do' positive attitude, and are prepared to listen and adopt new initiatives either within or from outside the club. We continue supporting community organisations doing great work, such as Wellways Australia ( formerly Mental Health Fellowship) , Burnett Insitute; Croxton School; Interplast;RSL; Polio-Plus;not forgetting our student scholarships & Rotary programs, the Rotary Foundation.
Our  support for Bushfire relief and  Drought affected communities was a major focus in '19/20,  & our meal and food program with Reservoir Neighbourhood House for those in need during Covid pandemic lockdown warranted mention last December by our Federal Member of Parliament, Ged Kearney. Kearney is quoted as saying, "One of my favourite quotes to remember in a crisis is to' look for helpers.'During 2020, one of the worst years in decades, I've been so proud to see helpers everywhere in Cooper.....The Jika Jika Community Centre,Preston Rotary, Diverse, The Salvo's ... and so many more. You are the backbone of our community, but this year you have gone above and beyond... you wrapped the arms of community around everyone."
Preston Rotary in particular gives students a go, we support them financially, as well as with awards and speaking opportunities.
The Pavilion Schools in Preston & Epping - schools which offer holistic support and education to students who have disengaged or been excluded from mainstream education, are examples of schools we love to support.
Over many years the club has supported three organizations in particular
      1. Children First Foundation - who bring chronically ill children from underdeveloped countries, to Melbourne, often for life saving surgery.
2.Life Education - a community based independent organization that has a mobile van to educate school students in preventative drug and health education.
3.Next Step - offers long term intensive therapy for those who have suffered spinal cord injuries.

AND... Since 2016 the Rotary Club of Preston has created the Personal Care Pack Project  in partnership with the Pinchapoo not-for-profit organization. Through this project the Club has distributed over 30,000 Personal Care Packs containing personal hygiene items through our Rotary District 9790. This is an ongoing project and a sign of our commitment to supporting our community.

We love our club, and being part of Rotary International; a fabulous international humanitarian service organisation.
You are most welcome to join us on our journey.

I often say to people … what doesn’t Rotary do on a world scale? …it’s a fabulous international humanitarian service organization
