Over the past 12 months, Rotary Preston’s Environment and Sustainability committee joined the Merri Paddle. Merri Paddle is a group of individuals who all have a passion for the uniqueness of the Merri Creek habitat, and seek to highlight all the mitigating factors contributing to the absence of the near- endangered Platypus.
Its been a fascinating insight for those of us in Rotary to meet up each month with this group and learn about “Urban Stream Syndrome’,-erratic storm water drainage into the creek, chemical and plastic pollutants, destruction of the creek rimparian zone, and so much more.
